Jesduvroq is an oral tablet used to treat anemia caused by chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adults who have been on dialysis for at least four months
It is the first FDA-approved HIF‑prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor (HIF‑PHI), designed to stimulate the body’s own production of erythropoietin, eliminating the need for injectable erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) .
Active Ingredient: Daprodustat
Drug Class: Hypoxia‑inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor (HIF‑PHI) .
Strengths Available: Tablets of 1 mg, 2 mg, 4 mg, 6 mg, and 8 mg .
Mechanism: Inhibits prolyl hydroxylase, stabilizing HIF and increasing endogenous erythropoietin to raise hemoglobin .
Starting dosage depends on baseline hemoglobin (Hgb) and ESA usage:
Hgb < 9 g/dL → 4 mg once daily
9–10 g/dL → 2 mg once daily
10 g/dL → 1 mg once daily
Dose adjustments are based on regular hemoglobin monitoring. Max dose is 24 mg once daily .
Taken orally once daily with or without meals .
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
