The Named Patient import basis
Individuals grappling with life-threatening or debilitating diseases have the right to access, purchase, and import prescribed medicines, even if these medications are not yet approved and/or available in their home country.
This access is granted through the named patient import basis, a legal exception allowing the importation of a non-approved medicine, contrary to the general rule that medicines must have official authorization for marketing. The main criteria for this exception include:
- The medicine is not approved and/or available in the patient’s country but has approval elsewhere.
- The patient is dealing with a life-threatening or debilitating disease.
- No alternative medicine is available.
- The medicine is intended for personal use by an individual patient.
- The patient has a prescription from their treating doctor.
- Additional requirements may be imposed based on the specific national regulations in the destination country.
Medicine authenticity
We exclusively offer original manufactured medicines that comply with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards. As a pharmaceutical wholesale distributor, we are bound by GDP regulations outlined in European Law and enacted into the national laws of each European Economic Area (EEA) country.
Our adherence to GDP entails strict compliance with regulations set forth by the Ministries of Health, relevant International, European, and National legislation, as well as customs regulations.
The process of selecting our suppliers is rigorous, involving comprehensive audits that assess the origin and quality of the products, along with the qualifications and stock maintenance capabilities of the supplying companies. We engage in negotiations to secure the best prices, with the goal of passing these savings on to the patients we support.
