Entecavir is used in the treatment of HIV infection and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It prevents the multiplication of virus in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.

May Treat: Antiviral Medicine (COVID)

Drug Class: Nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) (Nucleoside analog)

Pregnancy: CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR – Entecavir may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. However, the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation: CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR – Entecavir is probably unsafe to use during lactation.

Alcohol: CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR – Interaction with alcohol is not known. Please consult your doctor.

Driving: UNSAFE – Entecavir may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Liver Warning: SAFE IF PRESCRIBED – Entecavir is safe to use in patients with liver disease.

Kidney Warning: CAUTION – Entecavir should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
