Maraviroc belongs to a group of medicines called CCR5 antagonists. It is used to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), the virus that can cause AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). It prevents the entry of HIV virus into the human body and thus controls the infection.
