Crizalk is a prescription medication containing Crizotinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of certain types of cancer. It is available in two strengths: 200 mg and 250 mg capsules.

🧬 Medical Uses

Crizalk is primarily prescribed for:

  • Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): Specifically for patients whose tumors are ALK-positive or ROS1-positive.

It works by inhibiting the activity of the abnormal proteins that drive cancer cell growth in these specific genetic subtypes.

💊 Dosage & Administration

  • Standard Dosage: Typically, 250 mg taken orally twice daily.

  • Administration: Can be taken with or without food, but should be taken at the same time each day.

  • Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, it should be skipped, and the next dose should be taken at the regular time. Do not double the dose.

⚠️ Side Effects

Common Side Effects:

  • Dizziness

  • Fatigue

  • Swelling (Edema)

  • Decreased appetite

  • Vision disorders

  • Gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

  • Elevated liver enzymes

  • Upper respiratory tract infections

  • Neuropathy

Most side effects are manageable, but it’s important to consult your doctor if they persist or worsen.

⚠️ Precautions

  • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Crizalk is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential harm to the baby.

  • Driving & Operating Machinery: May cause dizziness or vision disorders; avoid such activities until you know how the medication affects you.

  • Liver & Kidney Function: Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease; dose adjustments may be necessary.

  • Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking to avoid adverse interactions.
