Deucravacitinib selectively inhibits TYK2, a member of the Janus kinase (JAK) family, thereby modulating immune responses involved in psoriasis.
Sotyktu is indicated for the treatment of adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy. It is not recommended for use in combination with other potent immunosuppressants.
Recommended Dosage: 6 mg orally once daily, with or without food.
Administration: Swallow tablets whole; do not crush, cut, or chew.
Hepatic Impairment: Not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh C).
Infections: Sotyktu can lower the ability of the immune system to fight infections, increasing the risk of infections such as pneumonia, tuberculosis (TB), and COVID-19. Patients should be evaluated for active and latent TB infection prior to initiating treatment.
Allergic Reactions: Serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported. Symptoms may include fainting, trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, chest tightness, and skin rash or hives.
Other Considerations: Sotyktu is not recommended for use in combination with other potent immunosuppressants.
