Telbivudine is used in the treatment of HIV infection and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It prevents the multiplication of virus in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.

Drug Class: Nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) (Synthetic thymidine nucleoside analog)

Pregnancy: SAFE IF PRESCRIBED – Telbivudine is probably safe to use during pregnancy. However, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation: CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR – Telbivudine is probably unsafe to use during lactation.

Alcohol: UNSAFE – It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Telbivudine

Driving: UNSAFE – Telbivudine may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Liver Warning: SAFE IF PRESCRIBED – Telbivudine is safe to use in patients with liver disease.
